Under Development - Launch in August 2025*

Oil Warehouse & Transit Hub For Western Africa & Southern Africa

  • We are planning to place a 160,000 metric tonne SUZMEX floater at Lome, Togo(with 60,000 metric tonne gasoline and 100,000 MT) ensuring uninterrupted cargo supply to the Western and Southern African regions.
  • The STS location is strategically located.
  • Our incoming cargo will be stored in the floating storage and will be distributed to our buyers in Ghana, South Africa , Mozambique by using our own daughter vessels.
  • The floater will act as a ‘ Transit Terminal ‘ for our African Market.

Gasoil Trading & Floating Storage Sub Saharan Region Africa.

image
  • Floating storage has become a pivotal component in the gasoil and gasoline trading landscape of Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in West Africa. This strategy addresses the region's limited onshore storage capacity and enhances the flexibility of fuel distribution.

Current Landscape

  • West Africa as a Hub: Over 70% of unsold or surplus gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel in West Africa is stored on tankers anchored off countries like Lome, Togo
  • United Petro’s Initiatives: Our shipping division has been instrumental in deploying floating storage solutions in the region. By August 2025 UPG tanker as floating storage for its West Africa operations.
  • By March 2026, the company will deploy two additional tankers to bolster its floating storage capacity in West Africa.

Port Limitations

Challenges and Opportunities

Infrastructure Investment Gap: Sub-Saharan Africa faces a significant infrastructure investment gap, with only 6% of storage facilities classified as "world scale" (capacity >150,000m³). An estimated $1.7 billion investment is required by 2040 to expand primary storage capacity to handle increased import volumes.

Supply Chain Vulnerabilities: The lack of coastal and strategic storage capacity makes the region vulnerable to supply chain disruptions, underscoring the need for robust floating storage solutions.

Strategic Considerations

Flexibility and Efficiency: Floating storage offers flexibility and efficiency, allowing traders to respond swiftly to market fluctuations and logistical challenges.

Regional Collaboration: Collaborative efforts among regional stakeholders can enhance the effectiveness of floating storage solutions, leading to improved energy security and economic progress.

In summary, floating storage plays a crucial role in the gasoil and gasoline trading activities of Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in West Africa. While it addresses immediate storage challenges, sustained investment in infrastructure and regional collaboration are essential to fully leverage its potential benefits.
